Patna: A daylong intensive training programme to equip district-level flying squads for successful execution of traps to nab corrupt government officials was held on Wednesday. igilance department principal secretary Ashok Kumar Chauhan addressed the trainees and underlined the importance of trapping cases to curb corruption.

Jewel thief

Madhubani (PTI): One Mokhammad Farooque has been arrested from Madhubani with jewellery worth over Rs 35 lakh allegedly stolen from the Mumbai residence of a close relative of late film actor Amjad Khan, police said on Wednesday.

Fair

Patna: Revenue minister Ramai Ram and health minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey on Wednesday reviewed preparations for the annual Shravani fair in Muzaffarpur. An appeal was made to the employees on strike of Muzaffarpur Municipal Corporation to call off the strike for proper upkeep of the city.

Park report

Patna: A bench of Justice S.N. Hussain of the high court has asked the state government to furnish a detailed report on the steps taken for development and beautification of Hardinge Park. In the past also, the court had directed the government to take steps but no action was taken.

Order

Patna: A bench of Justice S.N. Hussain asked the health department principal secretary on Wednesday to personally appear in court on July 27 to explain why the court’s directive to transfer two doctors was not obeyed.

Patna: A bench of Justice Navin Sinha asked the Magadh University registrar to personally appear in court on August 3 to explain why direction to give affiliation to BR Ambedkar College of Education, Gaya, was not followed.

Litigation

Patna: A Muzaffarpur-based lawyer, Sudhir Kumar Ojha, filed a PIL in the high court on Wednesday challenging the state government’s decision to transfer 340 block development officers (BDOs) within a year, as it affects development work carried out at the block and panchayat levels. There are 534 BDOs in the state.

Siwan: A Maharashtra court issued non-bailable warrants against Banu Kadar Khan of Bhada village under Siwan Mufassil police station against Tajunnisa Aslam Sekh of Khagaura village under Dhanauti police station on Wednesday.

College

Siwan: Deputy speaker of Bihar Legislative Council Salim Parvez inaugurated Shahid Umakant Singh Inter College at Narendrapur under Ziradai block on Wednesday.
