Postage stamps

Patna: A two-day postage stamp exhibition, jointly organised by India Post and Rabindra Parishad, concluded at Rabindra Bhavan on Wednesday. mong the rare exhibits at the exhibition were the first postage stamp on Rabindranath Tagore issued by India Post and handwritten letters by Mahatma Gandhi and Tagore. Special covers on Tagore and Gandhi were also inaugurated on Wednesday.

Arrest

Patna: Three criminals accused of loot and extortion were arrested in the early hours of July 8 in Patna, police said on Wednesday. Santosh Choudhary, a resident of Hanuman Nagar, had lodged a complaint with Patrakar Nagar police station after his motorcycle was stolen. A police team caught Kallu Yadav, Ranjit Kumar and Pappu Khan from an area under the jurisdiction of Phulwari police station in this connection.

Protest

Patna: Autorickshaw drivers on Wednesday blocked Buddha Marg for over an-hour-and-a-half in protest against police allegedly asking for bribes.

Graft cuffs

Patna: Vigilance officials nabbed Nawada district revenue department employee Mahesh Prasad while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 5,600 on Wednesday. rasad had demanded money for land mutation from one Rakesh Kumar.

Power stick

Patna: South Bihar Power Distribution Company Ltd has taken disciplinary action against 10 engineers for disobedience and non-performance.

Funds letter

Patna: Bihar Human Rights Commission member Neel Mani has written a letter to the secretary, social welfare, to send his department’s recommendations to the department of disability affairs of the Union ministry of social justice and empowerment for funds to the District Disability Centres in Bihar.

Sex ratio cry

Patna: The director of NGO Pahal, Dr Diwakar Tejaswi, has expressed concern over the declining sex ratio in India and Bihar, on the eve of World Population Day.
