PMCH doctor search

Patna: Police have launched a search for Patna Medical College and Hospital doctor Vijay Krishna, who has gone missing since Sunday. he police said the victim’s bike was found abandoned on the Gandhi Setu. His cellphone was switched off.

Dacoit killed

Siwan: Residents lynched a dacoit at Dapani village, 15km south of district headquarter, in the early hours of Wednesday. The dacoits were fleeing after looting jewellery from the house of a resident late on Tuesday night.

Bribe cuffs

Patna: Umashankar Dubey, an assistant sub-inspector posted at Biharsharif in Nalanda, was arrested by the vigilance sleuths on Wednesday for accepting a bribe from Jogipur village resident Rambabu Prasad for helping him in a criminal case.

Patna: A Diwali milan function was organised by Bankers’ Club in Patna on Wednesday.

CM praise

Patna: Chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi on Wednesday congratulated six-year-old mountaineer Harshit Saumitra from Darbhanga for scaling the base camp of Mt Everest.

Girls dead

Gopalganj: Two minor girls were buried alive when a heap of soil fell on them at Pithauri village on Wednesday morning.

Driver list

Patna: The Bihar State Autorickshaw Association has urged the government to direct the transport department to prepare a list of drivers and their family members and issue them smart cards so that they can avail medical insurance benefits.

Dairy helpline

Patna: Bihar State Milk Co-operative Federation, which sells milk and other dairy products under the Sudha brand, on Wednesday released a helpline number, 1800-3456-199, on which consumers can lodge complaints related to availability of products. People can call at the number between 6am and 8pm. he federation has ensured sufficient supply of milk and other dairy products during Diwali, Bhai Dooj and Chhath. Retailers have been directed to keep their counters open and display rate charts for the convenience of customers.

IPS promotions

Patna: Two senior IPS officers Arvind Pandey and Alok Raj were promoted to the rank of additional director-general on Wednesday. Pandey was earlier posted as inspector-general (weaker sections) in the criminal investigation department while Raj was special secretary in the home department. Anil Kishore Yadav, an IPS officer on central deputation, has also been promoted to the rank of inspector-general.

Road jab

Patna: BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi has dared the Jitan Ram Manjhi government to declare road construction work in the state during 2013-14 before the public. The World Bank, in its report, has highlighted that in 2013-14, there had been a 23 per cent decline in road construction work. Modi said former chief minister Nitish Kumar was responsible for the tardy pace as he held the additional charge of the department.
