Call to make Hindi state language

Patna: District office of Food Corporation of India (FCI) organised a workshop on Tuesday in support of making Hindi as the state language. The workshop was followed by a prize distribution ceremony by FCI’s regional manager Jaswant Singh Rajput. Hindi is our national language and it is our identity, he said.

Nitish for computers

Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday viewed the PowerPoint presentation of the state’s co-operative department at Vimarsh Hall at 1, Aney Marg. He further instructed to computerise all the co-operative primary agricultural credit societies, co-operative banks and other institutes of co-operative department.

Girls run over

BEGUSARAI (PTI): Two girl students were killed and another was injured on Tuesday after they were run over by a train at a railway crossing between Begusarai and Lakho stations. Speeding 15609 Saharsa-Patna Janseva Express ran over the trio when they were crossing the tracks on way to their home in Ayodhyabari village, police said. While two girls, nine and six years old, died on the spot, another seven-year-old girl sustained grievous injuries, the police said. She is battling for life in a private hospital.

Smuggler held

MUNGER (PTI): An arms smuggler was arrested on Tuesday near a railway crossing in Munger district. Acting on a tip off, the police arrested Vasant Prasad with six automatic pistols and around 12 magazines, a source said. He has been booked under the arms act, the source added.
