Caged

As pleasant as the wind that is cool,
Her pleasant face was beautiful.
She looked mesmerising in a gown blue,
But what her heart held, none had a clue.
Deep as the ocean her mind held crest,
All hidden behind a curtain of beauty’s best.
Once ago, she had gushed her feelings,
Narrated away her innermost dealings.
On her closest friend she had placed her trust,
But the cruel friend made the friendship rust.
Of her inner turmoil her appearance bore no mark,
Except in the core of her eyes dark.
All her insecurities she had revealed,
But her friend told the world, and not one believed.
In times of loneliness,
Her heart wished for a loving caress.
When she was in a pensive mood,
This world she wanted to elude.
When she was grief struck,
She wanted a stroke of luck…
Then one fine day a new friend arrived,
In front of whom she could have easily cried.
Afraid to make the same mistake, she hid her feelings away,
She didn’t talk of sadness or dismay.
Later, she did try,
Though in front of her friend she could not cry.
Now came the time she wanted to share,
But life, as everyone knows, is not fair.
Alas! Revelations could not be made,
As all her feelings were now caged…
