Patna: Swati Sharma, a Muzaffarpur girl who made her debut as a playback singer in Tanu Weds Manu: Returns with the song Banno Tera Swagger, is once again the talk of the town after she sang the female version of Gajendra Verma's song Tera Ghata.

The song crossed 55 million views on YouTube and the female version of the song has crossed 5,000 views.

She completed her school and college from Muzaffarpur. She shifted to Mumbai five years back.

She learnt singing from Pankaj Maharaj and received support from family members. Daughter of Pradeep Kumar Sharma and Anita Sharma, she is third among her siblings, a brother and a sister. Her father is businessman and has recently produced a Bhojpuri film Damru.

On her new album which has become a hit, Swati told The Telegraph over phone from Mumbai: "I really like the song of Gajendra Verma but there was no female version and I thought of singing it and released it on YouTube. The song is dedicated to the youth and I am happy that people are listening to it. The song connects youths and the lyrics of the song are so good that youths will love it."

More recently she had also lent her voice for the movie Tera Intezaar starring Arbaaz Khan and Sunny Leone in which she sang a song Barbie Girl.

Swati completed her schooling from Adarsh Vidya Mandir and completed her graduation in a distance course from Swami Vivekanand Subharti University Distance Education, Meerut, in the commerce stream.

Swati said she used to be very busy with singing classes due to which she was unable to attend regular classes and hence chose to pursue her education with distance learning.

She considers her father as her role model who motivated her to pursue a career in singing and he was the one who always stood behind her like a rock.

"My father always supported me and he was the one who judged my talent and asked me to continue with the singing profession. My father took me to Pankaj Maharaj Sir who taught me the basics of singing. He then later sent me to Pracheen Kala Kendra, Chandigarh, where I was imparted training in music. In the beginning, I sung for many devotional albums," said Swati.

In 2016, she also lent her voice for Nawazuddin Siddiqui-starrer Freaky Ali directed by Sohail Khan. Swati sang Din Mein Karengey Jagrata. She also sang Rail Gaddi for the Sonu Sood-Prabhu Deva film Tutak Tutak Tutiya.

She has sang other songs too for Bollywood films like Anaarkali of Aarah, Direct Ishq, Saansein, and Ek Tera Saath.

Swati said that in the coming days she will be singing many songs in different films but she wont divulge the names at present as the movies are in progress.

She has worked with many singers which include Sonu Nigam, KK, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Arijit Singh and Ash King.
