| Ayaan and Aman might perform at Rajgir Mahotsav |
Visitors to the Rajgir Mahotsav this year can hope to see live performances of singers Kailash Kher, Falguni Pathak and Ila Arun as well as sarod players Ayaan and Aman Ali Khan.
The festival to promote Rajgir, 110km southeast of Patna, as a tourist destination would be held from December 28 to 30. The tourism department is in talks with the artistes. Sufi singer Smita Bellur and Samudra dance group have already confirmed their participation in the annual event.
Apart from musical events, traditional fairs, tonga races and folk culture shows would also be organised at Quila Maidan — the venue for the festival.
“Chief minister Nitish Kumar would inaugurate the Rajgir Mahotsav on December 28,” said Omprakash Prasad, deputy director, tourism.
The event is jointly organised by tourism department and Nalanda district administration. Sixty kiosks would be set up at the fair by the tourism department through an event manager.
“We are also going to organise Mahila Mahotsav as part of Rajgir Mahotsav on December 29. Numerous activities like rangoli, mehendi and painting competitions would be organised to entertain women,” said Rachna Patil, sub-divisional officer, Rajgir.
