Patna, March 2: Students walked the ramp, showcased their musical talent and shook a leg on stage as part of the Freshers’ Day programme of Usha Martin Academy today.
Rohit Kumar and Kajol, first-semester students of bachelor of computer applications and bachelor of business management respectively, were adjudged Mr Fresher and Miss Fresher. Everybody present at the event organised at Bharti Mandapam praised the co-ordination between seniors and juniors.
Although the students got only 10 days for preparing for the show, it went off without a hitch. The audience applauded each performance, including that of fifth-semester bachelor of business administration student Raushan Kumar, who lent his voice to hit tracks like Mere sapnon ki rani and Om Shanti Om, bringing the audience to their feet.
The other performances of the day included a dance medley by first-semester students, a dance performance by freshers Manju and Anupriya on the song, Aye dil sambhal ja zara. Rishi Raj, another third-semester student of bachelor of computer applications, was also applauded for his hip-hop fusion dance.
Swapneil, a fifth-semester student of information technology and one of the co-ordinators, said: “We got only 10 days to prepare for the event but we are happy as the final performance was good and received applause. My friends and I had to ensure each and every thing. We also had to ensure proper co-ordination with the juniors. It was a tough task but we succeeded.”
Swapneil, Sneh and Raushan Kumar, the other co-ordinators, planned the programme under the supervision of faculty members Vineet Tiwary and Sudhanshu Shekhar.
Vineet said: “It was the students who worked hard for the event and their labour was on the stage for everyone to see.”
The dean of Usha Martin Academy, Riddhiman Mukhopadhyay, also present at the event, said: “I am happy to see the co-ordination between the junior and senior students. They put up such a beautiful programme with preparation of just a few days. It is all their hard work which was seen today.”
