Patna, Aug. 5: In a major breakthrough for the Patna police, Kripa Shankar Singh, one among the main accused in the murder of private bus operator Ravikant Choudhary, was arrested late last night.

Ravikant was murdered on July 27 evening. Singh was nabbed from Matachak village in Nawakhat area of the Naxalite-dominated Imamganj in Gaya district by a special police team led by city superintendent of police, Patna central, Shivdeep Lande.

Singh, a close aide of Kundan Singh — the person who has been accused of planning Ravikant’s murder — was hiding at a relative’s place in a village close to the Jharkhand border, the police said.

On July 30, the police announced a cash reward of Rs 50,000 for each of the accused in the killing, which was a result of a fight for supremacy at the Mithapur bus stand.

“A special unit of the police under Shivdeep Lande arrested Singh from Gaya. The police had been tracking him and more than a dozen places were raided. Singh has many criminal cases lodged against him in different police stations. The search for the others involved is on,” Patna senior superintendent of police Alok Kumar said.
