Patna, April 16: Munni badnaam hui from the 2010 blockbuster Dabangg made Munni an icon for thousands of aspiring dancers in the country.

Taking cue from the success of the song, a Bhojpuri version has been composed, with a twist in the lyrics.

Item girl Sambhavna Seth has replaced Malaika Arora in the new version — Murgi badnam hui, murga se chonch lada ke, murgi ke chonch gulabi, sonch sharabi, poonchh nababi — in the Bhojpuri film Jung.

Sambhavna Seth told The Telegraph: “I really enjoyed performing on the number. The Hindi song was a big hit and the dance was rustic. When I was first told that I would be dancing on the Bhojpuri version of the song I was really excited. Performing for this song was a really different experience. All the 30 dancers enjoyed a lot.”

Asked about her experience while performing the dance, she said: “I did not find any difficulties. It took two days to complete the shoot. The steps are also different and people would not find similarities between this number and the one featuring Malaika Arora in Dabangg.”

She said the preparations were lavish and praised the director for taking extra effort to ensure that things went according to the plan. “At times it became a little difficult, as I do not understand Bhojpuri, but the director and the support staff helped me a lot,” she said.

Asked about the relevance of the song, she said: “It’s a situational song. The hero has to go and free somebody from the villain’s cave and he takes me along to sing and dance to distract the men.”

Producer of the film Abhay Sinha told The Telegraph: “The song is becoming more and more popular day by day and I am sure that just as Munni badnaam hui (of Dabangg) left a mark on the mind of the audience, even Sambhavna’s performance would have a similar impact. The total duration of this song is about 4.5 minutes.”

Sinha said the film would release across the state on April 22. “The budget of the movie is over Rs 1 crore,” he said.Jung is produced by Abhay Sinha and the music of the film has been released by T-series.

Bhojpuri star Pawan Singh is the hero of the movie. Other stars include Monalisa and Mohan Rathod, the winner of Sur Sangram.

The lyrics of the film are by Vinay Bihari and Shyam Dehati while the music is composed by Lal Sinha and the director of the film is Arshad Khan.
