Five questions, 77 seconds to answer is a tall ask. But students of Patna successfully met the challenge of quizmaster Barry O’Brien at the Reserve Bank of India Quiz on Monday.

Organised to celebrate the 77th year of the central bank, the event attracted quizzers from six institutions — St Michael’s High School, Loyola High School, St Xavier’s School, DAV-Khagaul, Delhi Public School and Litera Valley. The posers tested their knowledge in rounds named “Do you have a money mind?”, “The RBI” and “You can bank on us”.

In other rounds — “Bharat Darshan” and “New India” — they answered questions on various things related to our country. For instance, O’Brien asked what was common among Gaminee, Sanjivani, Brahmini and Amar? The answer, correctly provided by the Litera Valley team comprising Abhishek Anand and Arnav Sinha, is that these are forms of kabaddi.

The audience also had a gala time as they were given the opportunity to win chocolates and pen for providing correct answers to question tossed out to them.

The Loyola High School team comprising Class XII students Ashish Krishna and Sawan Kumar emerged winner.

“The competition was tough. We did not expect to win. It was a pleasant surprise,” said Ashish.

RBI regional director, Bihar and Jharkhand, P.K. Jena and public health and engineering minister Chandramohan Rai attended the event.
