As the BJP braces for Hunkar Rally on April 15, the who’s who of the ruling alliance are keeping a close watch on the list of people invited to the state for the big show.
State BJP president Mangal Pandey on Monday said the issue of whether Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi would be invited to the event or not would be decided by the party’s central leadership.
“The state unit has no role to play on who will be invited for the event,” Pandey said.
JD(U) leaders, who are already wary about the growing clout of Modi inside the BJP, feel that the presence of the Gujarat CM would be the last nail in the coffin.
“It may mean that the BJP is sending out signals that it no longer cares for the alliance,” said a JD(U) MP.
On the other hand, a BJP stalwart said: “The Hunkar Rally without Narendra Modi will be a flop even if other top leaders arrive for the event.”
