Patna: RJD legislature party leader Rabri Devi on Friday accused Prime Minster Narendra Modi of being in the habit of thrusting his terms and conditions on regional parties.

Rabri was reacting to the resignation by two TDP ministers from the Modi government after the Centre rejected the demand for special status to Andra Pradesh.

"Narendra Modi wants to crush all regional and small parties who have made their mark in their respective states," Rabri said before entering the legislative Council. "The BJP cannot see any regional party going ahead. It has become Modi's habit to threaten regional parties and dictate his terms and conditions."

She also said that when leaders of regional parties do not fall in line, they are targeted and put behind bars with the help of central investigation agencies like the CBI, ED and I-T department.

"Narendra Modi threatens regional parties because of which some are living in fear, but the RJD is not afraid of anyone," Rabri said.

She also attacked Nitish, saying earlier he held rallies and campaigned to demand special category status for Bihar but has now forgotten everything. She recalled how Nitish had sent signatures of lakhs of people to push for special status to Bihar and how it ultimately turned out to be a big drama. She wondered what has happened now given the double engine government, with the BJP being in power at the Centre and also sharing power with Nitish in the state.

Asked if Nitish should take a lesson from N Chandrababu Naidu and step down as chief minister, Rabri said: "It's for to Nitish to decide. Who am I suggest? But people of Bihar and the country have understood how daring Nitish - who can go to any extent to save his chair - is."

She said it would be foolish to suggest that Nitish step down, because, in the first place, Nitish should never have overturned the Grand Alliance government and joined the NDA.
