NIT-Patna has a new challenge ahead.
Apart from moulding the best technical brains, it has taken up the initiative of adopting five villages and developing those as model ones.
The tech cradle has decided to spend Rs 10 lakh (Rs 2 lakh on each) for infrastructure development as part of its programme. The National Institute of Technology (NIT) has also constituted separate teams for the project. G.K. Choudhary, a senior teacher of the institute, has been made the convener of the scheme.
Choudhary said: “Five teams comprising five teachers in each would work on the modalities of how to develop the villages. They would also have to select five backward villages in the state.”
Choudhary added: “Apart from providing financial assistance in developing these villages as model ones, the NIT teams would create awareness and provide logistics as to how the plan would be executed.”
The five key areas where NIT-Patna could provide logistic support are improvement in health sector, education, sanitation, power and developing the villages digitally such as Internet connectivity and others. The teams would also help in proper execution of schemes such as, Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, Swachh Bharat Mission and the Digital India Programme.
