Muzaffapur: The death of Vivek Kumar (16), a Class X student of SK Mother International School located at Chata Chowk, triggered widespread violence and protests near the junction on Tuesday morning.

Vivek had suffered serious head injuries after being allegedly assaulted by a group of hostile classmates and some teachers on October 13 over a trivial issue. He was admitted to a private nursing home in Patna, where he succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday.

Protesters went on the rampage at Kazimohammadpur police station under the jurisdiction of which Chata Chowk falls and blocked LS College gate road to protest the death of the teenaged son of a tea vendor, Rajesh. Deputy superintendent of police Ashish Anand and sub-divisional officer (SDO) (east) Sunil Kumar rushed there with reinforcements to control the mob.
