Patna, Aug. 6: JDU MLAs today devised a unique way to mock Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
They staged a street play on the premises of the state legislature in which one of the legislators, Manjit Kumar Singh, played the role of Modi while other criticised him.
Wearing black suit, Manjit entered the legislature garden with other JDU MLAs carrying a briefcase with "kala dhan" (black money) written over it. Manjit, the MLA from Baikunthpur, then started imitating Modi's way of addressing public rallies while JDU MLA from Sonbarasa in Saharsha district, Ratnesh Sada played the role of BJP president Amit Shah.
There were around 25 JDU MLAs showing placards on which several slogans were written attacking the Prime Minister. Most of the MLAs were wearing back kurta while Manjit was wearing suit.
There were messages like "kalakar Modi", "behrupaya Modi", "jumale baj Modi" (actor Modi), "Modi the one who keeps changing" and "gimmick Modi.
"Once I will form the government, every Indian will get Rs 15 lakh in their bank account as I will bring back all the black money stashed in foreign banks," said Manjit in Modi's style while repeating "Do you want Rs 15 lakh" three times after which the rest of the JDU MLAs did the same.
In the second scene, Modi formed the government following which JDU MLAs meet Prime Minister as the common man asking Rs 15 lakh which he had promised during the Lok Sabha poll. Sitting next to Manjit, Ratnesh said that it was a jumla (gimmick). MLA Dawood Ali of Dumraon Assembly seat came running and asked Manjit: "Prime Minister saheb, I have come from Buxar, where is my Rs 15 lakh as you have promised to us?"
Manjit then replied that even he does not know about any black money.
Bhai Birendra, the RJD MLA from Maner, then comes in the scene as an agitated common man and asked others to beat Manjit.
Others raised slogan against the Prime Minister to go back. Manjit in the character of Modi started crying and said: " Mein pheku hu, mein jumale baj hu (I am bluff master and gimmick)."
Half of the group started beating Manjit and the rest did the same with Ratnesh who was playing the character of Shah. The JDU legislators lifted Manjit in the air and tried to throw him outside the garden. They all dragged him, till the portico and beat him as well, Manjit had no option then facing the wrath of the JDU MLAs beating him as common men.
Rishi Mishra, the MLA from Jaale, said: "Through the street play, we want to give the message to the Prime Minister that soon the people of this country will teach him a lesson and he would face such situations."
When the street play was about to come to an end at 10.45am, the BJP legislators entered the portico shouting slogans against chief minister Nitish Kumar. The slogans were like "Andar kala, bahar kala, Nitish ka dil bhi kala". The BJP MLAs were too carrying placard having several messages against Nitish.
Reacting on the street play, Manjit said: "Through this play, we want to send a loud and clear message to Narendra Modi that enough is enough and people of this country would not tolerate him anymore as he has failed on every front. People are not going to believe him anymore because all of his promises were just gimmick and whatever he would say during the Assembly elections would be just a gimmick."
Manjit carried the briefcase even during the proceedings of the House and showed it to the BJP MLAs. However, no senior leader or minister took part in the play.
