Patna, Feb. 10: The ongoing spat between JD (U) MLA from Karakat constituency in Rohtas Rajeshwar Raj and Bikramganj sub-divisional officer Rajesh Kumar is all set to snowball into a controversy as the legislator sought a privilege motion against the officer concerned today.
The MLA met Bihar Assembly Speaker Uday Narain Choudhary at his residence in Patna today and lodged a formal complaint against the sub-divisional officer for alleged misbehaviour and threat to his life.
“I have formally lodged a complaint with the Speaker and asked him to move a privilege motion against the public servant for hurling abuses and issuing threat to me in full public view,” he told The Telegraph.
The legislator also called on JD (U) chief whip Shrawan Kumar and narrated the incident, which occurred when he had gone to see the officer in his chamber at Bikramganj on Wednesday.
Shrawan Kumar reportedly assured the MLA of taking up the matter with chief minister Nitish Kumar.
“Though I tried to seek an appointment with the chief minister, I could not meet him because of his busy schedule. I will try to meet him next time,” Raj said before leaving for Rohtas.
The MLA also said he had submitted a written complaint to the local police station. “Let the police investigate the matter and take action,” he said, adding that he would not interfere in the investigation.
He said he was misbehaved by the sub-divisional officer in full public view and his conduct was no secret.
On the other hand, the Rohtas unit of the Bihar Administrative Service Association (Basa) held an emergency meeting at Sasaram today to chalk out the strategy to launch an agitation if any action was initiated against the sub-divisional officer.
“The meeting condemned the incident that happened with a member of the association and adopted a resolution to go on strike,” said an office-bearer of Basa on condition of anonymity.
He said such an incident would create a sense of insecurity among the public servants and honest officials would refrain from taking action against the people involved in corrupt practices.
Rohtas superintendent of police Vikas Vaibhav said counter FIRs have been lodged in connection with the incident.
“I have asked the deputy superintendent of police of the area to look into the matter,” he said.
