Patna resident Suman Kumar will travel to Mana in Uttaranchal from the state capital in October on a tricycle.

The differently abled Suman, who is the general secretary of Disabled Sports and Welfare Academy, announced his first-of-a-kind initiative at a news meet in the capital on Wednesday. Accompanying him on the journey would be five youths from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.

The group would travel around 1,200km north-west of Patna in the first week of October to reach Mana. The village, around 5km away from Badrinath, is the last one on the India-Tibet border.

Encouraging Suman in his mission, academy member Diwakar Tejaswi said: “We have named this programme ‘Mission Impossible’ because it would not be easy for him (Suman) to cover the distance on his tricycle. At a time when other people hesitate to take part in adventure sports, Suman’s initiative will definitely boost them to take up adventure sports.”

Dr Tejaswi hoped that Suman would inspire others to take up adventure sports.

Suman will be accompanied by Rajkumar Yadav (from Balia in Uttar Pradesh, Sujit Kumar (Chhapra), Ramkan (Patna), Om Kapoor (Patna) and Rakesh Kumar (Nalanda).
