Patna, June 17: The state government would conduct its first state-level minority meet on June 23.

State minority welfare minister Sahid Ali Khan today said the meeting will be held at S.K. Memorial hall. Khan said: “This would be the first meeting of minorities in the state in six years of NDA rule. The minorities want to extend their support to chief minister Nitish Kumar and want to thank him for taking various steps for their betterment.”

Slamming 15 years of RJD regime, Khan said: “Before Nitish Kumar government came to power, the condition of minorities was pathetic. But Nitish took the challenge and improved their living condition. He took every possible step to bring them to mainstream politics. The literacy rate among Muslims has gone up, the performance of students in madarsas has become better which has boosted the morale of minorities.”

Khan said: “The state is like a family and when the head of the family is good, other members carry the same reputation. Constructing boundary wall of graveyards from state’s money was a big step by the government because 30 per cent of conflicts used to happen because of the very issue.”
