Patna, Oct. 19: Director-general of police (DGP) Abhayanand has asked the Bihar policemen to bring about change in their attitude while dealing with people at their work place.
“Can we call the present police force ‘Janata ki police’ (police for the public)?” asked Abhayanand while interacting with senior police officials at a review meeting, organised for the first time after assuming charge as the state police chief.
Abhayanand, who was not satisfied with the way policemen behave with the common masses, asked the superintendent of police-rank officers to improve and interact more and more with the people. “The more you interact with the people, the more you get feedback about illegal activities going on in your area,” he said.
The DGP while drawing comparison with corporate managers said the government has provided the SPs with all the infrastructure and funds. “It is up to you how you manage things in a better and efficient manner as corporate managers do,” he said.
Abhayanand asked the SPs and other cops to apprise the state police headquarters of the problems faced by them. He also sought suggestions from the police officers on improving law, order and crime control.
