Patnaites wait for this time throughout the year. The festival of colours or Holi. As the festival is round the corner, city clubs have started the pre celebrations. Lions Club of Patna Favourite members got drenched errr dried in the Pre Holi celebration with gulaal at SCADA Business Center on Thursday.

The members dropped in all dressed up in bright colours. They draped themselves in bright colours — yellow, green, red, pink and blue. However, green and yellow seemed to be the favourite colours of the women. Some of them flaunted saris and suits designed with Madhubani motifs, thread work and cotton stitches.

A participant turned heads in her chiffon wine red sharara designed with golden work. Amrita Bhushan, the president of the club, was dressed perfectly for the occasion in a white suite and block print dupatta. She paired her outfit with silver jewellery and red wedges. “White is the colour I prefer wearing on Holi. If you wear any other colour, the gulaal applied on you won’t be visible,” she said.

Song, dance and fun completed the day for the women. The members let their hair down, grooved and cheered their lungs out. The peppy Bollywood numbers kept the tempo of the celebration high. From Sheila ki Jawaani to Party all night — the women rocked the dance floor. Props like dhol and topis added extra colour to the celebration. “I love to dance to the new peppy songs. They make me groove. I enjoyed the evening with the dhol and sung many Holi numbers,"” said Bimla Singh, dressed in a white sari and a bun.

Much like the younger generation, the women members of the club seem to have been bitten by the selfie bug. Selfie is the new DIY thing. In between having fun, the women brigade was busy taking selfies and instantly posting them and sharing them on Facebook. “Selfie is the best thing that has happened in the past few years. You don't have to be dependent on others to click or to pose for almost a minute to get the perfect posture. Now you just need to see yourself in cellphone camera and pose,” said Sumita Sahi.
