Patna, Sept. 5: A one-stop window has been set up to clear grievances of entrepreneurs in industry-starved Bihar.

The unique initiative, Udyami Adalat, will be a monthly affair to be managed by the state industries department.

The first such adalat will take place at the department’s New Secretariat meeting hall on September 28, principal secretary Afzal Amanullah told The Telegraph today.

“We held a meeting with all department officials as well as representatives of organisations like the Bihar Industries Association (BIA), the Bihar Chamber of Commerce and Industries (BCCI), the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). Industrialists and entrepreneurs from across the state can participate in this event where their problems will be heard and resolved,” he said.

He added that by the 15th of each month, any industrialist in the state needed to inform the department about the problems they were facing.

“The department has released an e-mail id idc_bihar@yahoo.co.in to which the problems can be sent. One doesn’t need to write all the details. The department just needs the name of the person, the place, the work he is doing (type of industry) and the problem he is facing. Once the complaint comes through, the department will start making inquiries and will decide upon a solution. The complaints can be sent also by post, courier or through organisations like the Bihar Industries Association and Bihar Chamber of Commerce and Industries. This month, I will have a meet with officials on September 25 in connection with the complaints and the adalat will be on September 28 in which the department will try to solve their problems. We hope with the problems being solved, industrialists will also create an environment for future investments, too,” he added.

Amanullah said that preference would be given to those who sent their petitions till 15th of the month.

“Though all can come, it will be better that the department knows about a particular problem so that the same can be solved as soon as possible on the same day. So, people having problems should send their applications by 15th of each month. Once the first adalat is over, applications for the event for October will be awaited and so on. Each month will see the date of the adalat being announced and most of the times it will be on the second half of the month,” he said.

The move has been welcomed by office-bearers of different business organisations who said that the move would create a positive energy in the state’s industrialisation.

“This is a very good move. It can be said to be a monthly grievance redressal meeting. The best thing about it is the fact the industrialists from all over the state can come to the department and expect that their problems will be solved immediately. Patna industrialists are always connected to the department but the same cannot be said about those in the other districts. It is definitely a good move,” KPS Kesri, the president of the Bihar Industries Association, said.

O.P. Sah, the chairperson of the Bihar Chamber of Commerce and Industries agreed. “The idea is very good for an individual entrepreneur,” he said.
