A talented teacher and his extraordinary students defying poverty to be successful will be the storyline of Anurag Basu’s next.

Based on the life of Super 30 founder Anand Kumar, the script of the film is ready and the mathematics wizard has consented to Basu’s biopic offer.

“I have signed the letter of consent for the film. I don’t have much details about it, but the story is ready. A year-and-a-half ago, Anurag had contacted me soon after the release of Kites (2010). He wanted to make two biopics, one on Kishore Kumar and the other based on my life. I was never a film enthusiast and had very little idea about Basu and his works,” Anand said.

The trainer of IIT aspirants said after Basu contacted him, he did not show much interest in the film.

Anand said: “Basu had sent me e-mails and had also called me up. But I didn’t have much time then. The filmmaker then contacted my brother and visited my place last year. Writer Sanjeev Dutta accompanied Basu and they spent an entire day with me.”

He added: “During that time, Barfi! was being made. Basu and I had detailed discussions over my biopic. I liked his attitude towards life and work. I also came to know about Dutta’s works like Page 3. Basu asked me to watch some of his films and I watched Life in a Metro. It was impressive.”

The biopic talks about a tutor taking up the responsibility to prepare underprivileged children for one of the toughest examination — IIT. These children later reach the zenith of success.

“I don’t know the entire story but it could be possible that some scenes are shot in Patna. I also don’t know when Basu and I would meet again. But we will meet for sure,” the maths wiz said.
