Patna: A man from Uttar Pradesh was apprehended and Rs 29 lakh of unaccounted cash seized from his possession early morning on Tuesday.

The arrested person, Vishnu Madeshiya, a resident of Deoria in Uttar Pradesh, was passing through Exhibition Road when the police recovered the cash from his vehicle.

The Gandhi Maidan police station personnel, as part of a routine checking drive, were checking vehicles near Exhibition Road. When the cops checked an SUV that was passing through the route, they stumbled upon the cash, which was kept inside a box.

Vishnu was detained and sent to the Gandhi Maidan police station. "The detained youth told the police that the cash belongs to wheat farmers of Uttar Pradesh, which he had collected from flour mills in Bihar," said Gandhi Maidan police station house officer (SHO) Deepak Kumar.
