Patna, June 14: A 32-year-old man fell off a running bus on the Hajipur-Mahua road in Vaishali today.

The victim, Dilip Rai succumbed to injuries at Hajipur Sadar hospital, around 20km off Patna in the evening. Eyewitnesses said Rai had an altercation with the conductor of the Samastipur-bound bus over fare after which the conductor pushed Rai off the running bus near Ranipokhar.

The victim’s relatives alleged that the conductor fled after pushing Rai off the bus.

Mahua police station house officer Ajay Kumar Singh said a case of unnatural death was lodged. “Efforts are on to verify allegations of Rai’s kin,” he said. Mahua-sub-divisional police officer Pritish Kumar claimed Rai had fallen and wasn’t pushed.

“He was travelling on the roof. He lost control and fell. He was admitted to Hajipur hospital where he died,” the SDPO said. He refuted allegations against the conductor.
