Patna: Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Friday slammed chief minister Nitish Kumar over deteriorating law and order in the state.

Tejashwi slammed Nitish saying there is Mahagunda Raj in Bihar where criminals have been given a free hand.

He cited a few examples, including the Aurangabad lynching incident, where a relative of an Army jawan became the victim of vigilante justice and also the Jehanabad molestation issue.

"The jawan was thrashed and his relative was killed by the criminal. The police played the role of mute spectators. What kind of nationalism Nitish ji wants to prove in the alliance with the BJP when an Army jawan is being thrashed. Even after this if his antaratma (conscience) hasn't kindled, he should take a dip in the Ganga," Tejashwi said.

The younger son of RJD chief Lalu Prasad further cited the example of a trader's son shot dead in Gardanibagh and how the father was attacked by a criminal on Thursday night.

Tejashwi said: "The criminal opened fire on the trader in Gardanibagh in which the son died. In another incident, the criminal opened fire at a shop of a trader in Patna City. Even there was a firing at a car showroom in Bihta. It proves people have lost confidence in law and order and there is no fear of policing because policing doesn't exist."

Tejashwi also took a dig at Nitish saying: " Sare aam aapke SP tamanche par disco karte hai (Your SP openly dances flaunting a pistol)."

Tamanche pe disco is a song from the film Bullet Raja directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia with Saif Ali Khan and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead.

The young RJD leader was pointing at IPS officer Siddharth Mohan Jain who has become the talk of the town after a celebratory firing during his farewell party in Katihar.

Tejashwi said policing has lost it's focus because of prohibition as cops are busy minting money and law and order is no more their priority.

"There is no control on crime because the focus of the police is not to nab criminals but to catch people smuggling liquor and release them after taking money. It has turned into a big business, so establishing rule of law is no more the agenda of the police. Only poor people are put in jail and influential people are not even touched," Tejashwi alleged, adding that Nitish is taking false credit for prohibition and they have a nexus with the liquor mafia.

Attacking Nitish's confidante and Rajya Sabha member RCP Singh, Tejashwi said: "The police stations are on auction to extract the RCP Tax and those who do not fall in line will face raids the way Muzaffarpur SSP Vivek Kumar was subjected to because he refused to pay the RCP tax."

Tejashwi laughingly said now the JDU parrots (read spokespersons) will issue the oft-repeated statement that the Nitish government do not implicate anyone nor save anyone.
