Patna, July 22: Two young lovers, allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a running train late last night.

The bodies of 30-year-old Binod Kumar and Julie, around 22-year-old, were recovered from the railway track located on the west side of the Chitkohra Bridge under the Patna Government Railway Police (GRP) station area.

The bodies were spotted by some local residents who informed the police. A team of cops reached the spot around 11.30 pm and removed the mutilated bodies from the track.

The bodies were later sent to the Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) for a post-mortem.

The police, during the investigation, recovered a diary belonging to Binod, a native of Tetulmani area under the Katras police station of Dhanbad in the neighbouring Jharkhand.

The man was presently working at Poddar Traders, located at Hotel Lane in Frazer Road area, as an accountant-cum-data entry operator.

A short suicide note was found in a diary belonging to Binod recovered from near the railway track by the police. In the note, Binod said he was ending his life at his own will and that his family shouldn’t be bothered.

“I am tired of my life and am killing myself. I request people not to trouble my family,” the note read.

The diary consisted of another short note, which read: “We are dying by our own choice. Julie is not a bad character girl.”

The police said Binod and Julie were having an affair and the two had approached a lawyer at Patna High Court a couple of days ago as they wanted to get married.

The lawyer had asked them to come with some necessary documents, Binod had written in the diary, said a police officer.

The police procured the number of Manohar Malha, Binod’s father, from his work place. They called up Malha who confirmed Binod was having an affair with a girl from Danapur. “The family is in a state of shock after receiving the news. They are on their way to Patna to identify the body. The family background of the girl is not known yet,” Ram Pukar Singh, the station house officer of the GRP station, said.

The diary of Binod has got another address which reads — Naya More, Sijua in Dhanbad. “The police are verifying the other address. It could be possible that the boy was living alone, away from his family. Talks with the people of his company in Patna prove that he was working at Poddar Traders since nine months now. The girl had perhaps fled her home and come to Binod with marital plans. Both of them wanted to marry but it seems there was a problem which resulted in the duo to take the drastic step,” the SHO added.

A senior officer with Poddar Traders told The Telegraph that Binod was a good employee and they never suspected any problem was bothering him.

“He was very normal and composed. Yesterday, too, he had reported to work and left the office in the evening after 5 pm. We don’t know much about him as he never really shared his personal life with anyone. He never looked disturbed even one bit,” the official added.
