Patna, Feb. 9: Space talk and tips on modern technology will be the key attractions of Technika, the annual techno-management fest of Birla Institute of Technology’s Patna campus, this year. Nobel laureate John Mather and Jaap Haartsen, the developer of Bluetooth specification, would address the students taking part in the event.
One of the biggest technical fest in eastern India, Technika is a combination of technical expertise and managerial proficiency. U.N. Singh, the chief technologist of Nasa, and astrophysicist Dr Martin Rees would also deliver lectures at Technika, scheduled from March 3 to 6.
While Mather is an advocate of Big Bang theory, Rees believes in Steady-State theory. Indranil Goswami, the general secretary of the organising committee of Technika, said: “It will be a great opportunity for students to learn from such great scientists as they will deliver speech on their respective topics.”
Technika is a congregation of students from various national and foreign institutes. Experts of international repute from academia and industry are also invited to the event.
Preetak Mitra, a third year student of BIT-Patna, said: “Students showcase their talent in discipline-specific events in the fest. The events are so planned that in the process of exercising academic intellects, the participants come up with innovations.”
As part of Technika, the institute will host EducationFair-Technika 2012. Representatives from US, UK, Netherlands, France and Singapore will participate in the education meet.
