Patna, Jan. 7: A day after three criminals looted a motorbike with Rs 3.80 lakh in the luggage box from a liquor shop owner, police today claimed they had recovered the two-wheeler but remained clueless about the trio.
Patna senior superintendent of police Alok Kumar said the motorbike of Jeetendra Kumar, the owner of the Bahadurpur-based New Paimana Wine Shop, was found in the Biscauman Colony area under Alamganj police station of Patna City.
“Investigations are on. We have recovered the motorbike belonging to the victim. At the moment, we can only divulge this much. The case will be solved very soon,” Alok said. Sources said the criminals involved in the case have not been identified at this moment.
“The cops, through their sources, are trying to find out about the gang who were involved in the incident. There are some leads with us and we are working on those at the moment. A breakthrough will happen very soon,” another police officer said.
On Thursday morning, Jeetendra had gone to the Rajendra Nagar branch of a private bank and had withdrawn Rs 3.80 lakh. He had put the money in the bike’s luggage box. He rode back around 2km to his shop and was parking his bike in front of his shop when the trio approached him from behind on a motorbike. Two of the men got down and demanded the keys of his bike. Refused, one of them fired at him. The bullet grazed his right palm. After Jeetendra slumped to the ground out of fear, one of the men snatched the keys to the bike and two criminals flee on it towards the Alamganj area. The third criminal flees on his bike in the same direction.
Later, an FIR was lodged at Patrakar Nagar police station. Sources said they will be checking out the men who have been out of the jails in Patna recently too. “It is difficult to comment on the matter now. Investigations are going on though,” the SSP added.
