On Wednesday, excise superintendent Dinbandhu told The Telegraph that officials acting on a tip-off laid a trap in Milki village and seized a container truck laden with cartons in adjoining Basoli village.
The truckload of liquor was being off-loaded into a secluded part of Basoli village when the excise sleuths raided.
Some of the bootleggers who were present at the time of offloading managed to flee under the cover of darkness, said the superintendent.
The raiding team also recovered an SUV filled with 20 cartons of whisky.
The seized IMFL is valued at Rs 1.20 crore.
The cartons containing foreign liquor were supposed to be sold in different parts of north Bihar, including in Muzaffarpur, said the excise superintendent.
