Liquor, and not cash, was seized from a van bearing the Punjab National Bank (PNB) logo on Saturday.

The police claim it to be the largest seizure in the district since prohibition. Two persons were arrested and 167 cartons seized. Additional superintendent of police Dilnawaz Ahmad said he had inputs liquor would arrive in ambulances. "I was stunned when tipped off that the liquor from Haryana was arriving in a bank cash van," Ahmad said.

"The van reached Darbhanga a day later because of an accident in Gopalganj. It was intercepted today. The nearest PNB branch manager was called and the chest opened in his presence."
