Terming the R-Block area a widely accepted protest spot, police on Wednesday said any individual or organisation trying to spread ruckus by staging violent protests would face strict legal action.
Patna city SP Prantosh Kumar Das, said they had lodged an FIR against Neeraj Kumar Bablu, the disqualified JDU MLA from Chaatapur in Supaul and 32 persons for staging a protest at the Dakbungalow Roundabout on Wednesday afternoon.
'It was a rally of the Teachers' Eligibility Test (TET) passouts being led by the MLA. They had to reach the R-Block through Dakbungalow roundabout. But they decided to stop at Dakbungalow and block it. When the police tried to remove them, they attacked the cops resulting in injuries to at least two policemen. While four protesters have been arrested, FIRs under several sections of the IPC have been lodged against the MLA and 32 others,' the SP said.
He added that police would show no tolerance towards groups which were violent.
'The police don't have a problem with protests, which is a fundamental right. However, there have been instances when they start protesting at important roads, creating a traffic nightmare. People face a lot of problems owing to this. This won't be tolerated and any unruly rally will face strict legal action if they break regulations,' the SP said.
