Muzaffarpur, Nov. 13: Former Lalganj MLA Vijay Kumar Shukla alias Munna Shukla, along with 28 prisoners lodged in Khudiram Bose Central Jail, will be shifted to Bhagalpur Central Jail soon.

District magistrate Santosh Kumar Mall has requested inspector-general (prisons) Anand Kishore to transfer Shukla, who has been incarcerated for the murder of former science and technology minister Brij Behari Singh.

Mall told The Telegraph: “We have decided to transfer some prisoners on the suspicion that they have been carrying on nefarious activities from behind bars.”

Tirhut range deputy inspector general of police Bacchu Singh Meena said: “The prisoners have extorted large sums of money from traders by making calls from behind bars.” Lalganj is in Vaishali district.
