Patna: RJD chief Lalu Prasad on Monday flew to Mumbai for further treatment at Asian Heart Institute (AHI) after resting in Patna for a month. Earlier, Lalu had spent 13 days in Mumbai, where he had undergone fistula surgery and treatment for other ailments.

This is the second time in two months that the former chief minister has flown to Mumbai after the Jharkhand High Court granted him provisional bail on May 11 for treatment. It later extended his bail for another six months on medical grounds.

His close aide and MLA Bhola Yadav, who was accompanying him to Mumbai, told The Telegraph before leaving for Patna airport: "Last time, Lalu ji had undergone fistula operation and doctors had advised him bed rest. The doctor had told Laluji to return to Mumbai after four weeks. Now, we are going for further check-up."

During Lalu's previous visit to Mumbai, his elder son Tej Pratap Yadav and eldest daughter Misa Bharti had accompanied him. However, this time, only Bhola was accompanying, as Tej Pratap remained in Patna, Misa in Delhi for an appearance before the Patiala House Courts in a case related to money laundering, and Tejashwi in Delhi for the past three days.
