Patna: RJD chief Lalu Prasad was on the platter chief minister Nitish Kumar spread for BJP president Amit Shah.

Several topics came up for discussion at the dining table at 1 Aney Marg on Thursday night, but it was Amit Shah who set the ball rolling by asking to know how the fodder scam unfolded.

Senior JDU leaders Rajiv Ranjan Singh a.k.a. Lalan Singh and Bijendra Yadav briefed Shah on the fodder scam cases.

Deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi, too, filled in with details. Lalan and Sushil were among the petitioners in the scam apart from Shivanand Tiwari, who is now national-vice-president of the RJD.

Currently in Patna on provisional bail on medical ground, Lalu has been serving a prison term at the Birsa Munda Jail in Ranchi since December 23 after he was convicted in the fodder scam case about illegal withdrawal of money from the treasury.

More recently, he was sentenced to 14 years in jail and fined Rs 60 lakh in the fourth fodder scam case in which Rs 3.13 crore was withdrawn from the Dumka treasury in the early 1990s against fake bills for fodder, when he was undivided Bihar's chief minister. Bijendra also briefed Shah about what he did as law minister when the scam unfolded.

"Amit Shah ji inquired about the fodder scam case on which Lalanji and Bijendra ji briefed him. Sushil Modiji, too, gave his inputs," said JDU state president Bashishtha Narayan Singh, who too was present at the dining table with Nitish and Shah.

Another topic that came up for discussion was electrification. Bijendra briefed Shah on how Bihar was the first state that took the initiative to provide electricity to every household by December 2018.

"Nitish ji informed Shahji about how Piyush Goyal had, as Union power minister, sent a team to Bihar to collect information on work being carried out in the power sector in Bihar so that he could implement it at the central level," Bashishtha said

Discussion on public grievance redressal system, and Bodhgaya blasts also took place apart from Nitish's Saat Nischays (seven resolves). Nitish explained all the seven resolves to Shah.

"Shah ji wanted to know if the number of grievances had come down because of the redressal system," Bashishtha said. "Nitishji filled him in on the details. The conversation veered to the Bodhgaya blasts and then Shah ji explained the process of nominating the Dalai Lama."

Shah also praised the Narendra Modi model of work, whereas JDU leaders praised the Nitish model.
