Patna: The Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) on Tuesday organised Karpoori Jayanti - the birth anniversary of socialist leader and former chief minister Karpoori Thakur - at its office in Patna.

The LJP's new poster boy and LJP students' wing national president Prince Raj inaugurated the function.

The party observed the day as Sankalp Divas and passed a resolution demanding reservation for the Extremely Backward Class (EBC) in Parliament and Assembly elections on the lines of quota given to EBC communities at local bodies' elections.

Raj, son of LJP MP Ram Chander Paswan, said: "We are following the footsteps of Ram Manohar Lohia, Karpoori Thakur and Ram Vilas Paswan to empower the EBCs, who have been left neglected for decades." The EBC accounts for 30 percent of the state population.
