Singer Tochi Raina of Re Kabira Mann Jaa of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani fame would now sing for quake victims.

The 46-year-old singer has taken an initiative to extend a helping hand to the earthquake victims of Nepal and Bihar by coming up with a song Rooh Kambdi (Shaken Soul) to pay his tributes.

Born in Darbhanga, Raina spent his childhood in Bihar and now he would organise a live concert on June 11 in Mumbai. The money generated through the concert would be distributed among quake victims in Nepal and Bihar.

Speaking to The Telegraph over phone from Mumbai, Raina said: "It is just a tribute to the people who have lost their lives in the earthquake. At the time of April 25 tremor, I was in Lucknow and I came to know that thousands of people in Nepal have lost their lives, including many in Bihar. It was so painful because I had spent 10 years of childhood in Bihar and later spent eight years in Nepal as my father (Sardar Sujit Singh) was posted as government employee in the Himalayan country."

Three houses - Band of Bandgi, Anand Kumar Productions Pvt Ltd and Karmaa Junction Entertainment - have produced Rooh Kambdi, the 5.18-minute song.

"Our motive behind this charity is to bridge the gap of humanity by supporting the survivors," Raina said.

Apart from Raina, the lead singer, there are eight other singers who have lent their voices to the song. Shriram Iyer, Harshi Mad, Ramji Gulati, Priyanka Vaidya, Neeru Rawal, Prashant Satose, Usha T. Raina (wife of Tochi Raina) and Roshni Saha would lent their voices. All worked for the album for free.

Tochi started his Bollywood journey with Bulle Shahfor A Wednesday and proved himself again in Dev D with O Pardesi and later in Iktaara from the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Wake Up Sid. The director of the album, Abhishek Kumar, hails from Ara.

"We would organise a live concert of the album on June 11 in St Andrews Auditorium, Bandra, Mumbai, and whatever money is generated it would be distributed among the families affected by the earthquake in Nepal and Bihar. We would visit the affected places to hand over the money," said Abhishek.

The director has earlier worked as assistant director in Desi Kattey and Zila Ghaziabad. He was previously associated with Balaji Telefilms and had worked as associate casting director in the serials Bade Ache Lagte Hai and Parichay.

Abhishek said similar concerts would be held in other cities such as Bangalore and Bhopal. The dates have not yet been finalised.
