Patna: Concerned over poor monitoring and functioning of "100 Dial" the toll free number of Patna police, zonal inspector-general (IG), Nayyar Hasnain Khan has asked Patna senior superintendent of police (SSP) Manu Maharaaj for proper monitoring and implementation of "100 Dial".
The 100-Dial is a toll-free emergency number to get into contact with police to register complaints. The IG has asked the SSP to review the functioning of 100 Dial within 24 hours and take necessary steps to strengthen the functioning of the helpline. The IG has issued seven directives to SSP to review and monitor the functioning of 100 Dial.
The senior officer directive follows Patna High Court Chief Justice Rajendra Menon's remark on Wednesday on the functioning of Dial-100. Chief Justice Menon, while hearing petitions on the functioning of essential government services, said a few days ago, he had called Dial 100 around 1am to lodge a complaint against loud music being played at a hotel near his official residence at Chhajjubagh.
According to the Supreme Court directives, loud music cannot be played from 10pm to 6am. The IG, on his seven-point suggestions to the SSP, has asked him to review the work of police officers deputed on the 100-Dial helpline and those officials found of negligence be shifted to police stations in rural areas.
