Munger, Oct. 31: Work on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ambitious plan to put Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) assets on ISRO's "Bhuvan" portal has resumed in Munger a month after this paper hig lighted the problems in the plan.
The objective behind placing MGNREGA assets on ISRO's "Bhuvan" portal is to check leakages in implementation of the programme, as huge money is now flowing to gram panchayats through the 14th Finance Commission. "Till date, photographs of over a thousand schemes, fully completed under MGNREGA, have been uploaded on Isro's Bhuvan geo-portal in Munger district," said Rameshwar Pandey, deputy development commissioner Munger.
"The process of uploading pictures of other such completed MGNREGA schemes is on at a war-footing in eight blocks of the district - Munger Sadar, Jamalpur, Dharhara, Bariarpur, Haveli Kharagpur,Tarapur, Sangrampur and Tetiyabambar," Rameshwar Pandey, deputy development commissioner Munger, said.
"The uploaded pictures include those of completed schemes of rural toilets, rural irrigational schemes such as Aahar and Payeen, plain cement concrete (PCC) roads, PCC drains, ponds, handpumps etc. under MGNREGA. All pictures will soon be put in the public domain so that people the world over can see the quality of assets created under the scheme."
It will be very difficult for those engaged in the agencies concerned to commit irregularities in implementation of MGNREGA schemes in Munger district as most of the solid assets created under this scheme would fully be in the public domain in the near future, sources who wanted to be anonymous said.
