Students of the city got an opportunity to showcase their skills and bag high-profile jobs through an employment fair on June 15 and 16.

The two-day Mega Job Fair was organised by Cybotech Campus in association with Shine.com. The fair provided students an opportunity to interact with representatives of major corporate houses like IBM, Dish TV, DSPS, Sparrow Telecom, Genpact, Vidyanat Group, Alpro Panel and IGT.

The fair’s first day was reserved for the institute’s students; the second day thrown open to all eligible students from the city.

Final-year MCA student of Cybotech Campus Mukesh Kumar bagged the highest package of Rs 4.8 lakh per annum with bigwig Tech Mahindra. Sharing his experience at a news meet on Wednesday, Mukesh said: “I am grateful to my faculty who were always supportive and cleared my doubts. Apart from education, the students should always be confident and conscious about their communication skills. Our faculty have simultaneously focussed on our education and personality development.”

Vice-president of Cybotech Campus Abhijeet Kumar said: “Academics is a combination of both education and personal skills. The market lacks skilled workers. Students should always take care of their communication skills and body language while preparing for interviews.”

“Academics is about knowledge. In the rat race for placements, students should not ignore basics. During exams, students tend to mug up. They should focus on enhancing knowledge than scoring high.”

While distributing offer letters, academic head Renuka Yashaswee said they would hold more such fairs. “These kind of fairs lead to a healthy competition among students. Students of our institute interacted with other students and therefore got to analyse their strengths and weaknesses. It helps,” she said.
