Students and professors stage a dharna at Magadh Mahila College in Patna on Wednesday. NK Choudhary, dean, faculty of social sciences, on Wednesday observed a daylong hunger strike protesting against the government plan to construct a convention centre adjacent to the institute. Students, teachers and faculty members of the college accompanied Choudhary in his hunger strike. Choudhary urged the state government to rethink its decision. Anamika, a final-year undergraduate history student, said: “Apart from protesting against coming up of the convention centre, we also demand strict action against police personnel involved in Monday’s incident at R-Block.” Education department principal secretary Amarjeet Sinha said an amicable solution would be reached.
