Purnea, Dec. 26: Purnea Sadar Hospital is likely to go online before chief minister Nitish Kumar visits the district as part of his Seva Yatra in the first week of January.
The aim is to connect all public health centres (PHCs), referral hospitals and sub-divisional hospitals in Purnea through Internet.
After Nalanda and Sheikhpura, Purnea Sadar Hospital would be the third health hub to go online ahead of the chief minister’s visit. All 10 PHCs, two referral hospitals at Amour and Rupauli, two sub-divisional hospitals at Dhamdaha and Banmankhi and district sadar hospital would be connected with a server.
All doctors and health workers would be able to register their attendance online through the biometric system following installation of the server. According to sources, the biometric system has been installed at the sadar hospital, sub-divisional hospitals, referral hospitals and PHCs.
“Once the attendance system goes online, the presence of workers and doctors at the health centres would be ensured. The civil surgeon often receives complaints of doctors and health workers remaining absent. Such incidents could also be checked,” district monitoring and evaluation officer Brajesh Kumar Singh said.
“When the health centres go online, doctors and other auxiliary staff have to come on time and health services will improve automatically. Online facility also inculcates a sense of service among health personnel,” he added.
The state government has ordered registration of doctors and health auxiliary employees’ attendance through the biometric system. “We received the order from the health department about two months ago. We would consider doing it ahead of the chief minister’s Seva Yatra visit in January,” Singh said.
