Patna, July 26: The Patna High today directed the Central Board of School Examination (CBSE) to file a detailed report on a bunch of petitions filed by students seeking re-evaluation of their answer sheets.

A bench of Justice Ajay Kumar Tripathi asked CBSE to furnish report with details as to how many students were declared pass, fail and the number of students seeking re-evaluation of their answer sheets. The board would file its report by July 29, the next date of hearing.

The petitions were filed by students of St. John School, Sitamarhi, and some students from Patna schools who moved the high court after CBSE did not heed to their representation in which they had alleged irregularities in the Class XII results which were declared on May 27.

Appearing for the petitioner students of St. John School, advocate Ashish Giri contended that the answer sheets should be re-evaluated as copies were checked by people who did not fulfil the requisite criteria specified by the board.

Campus call cleared

Patna High Court today cleared Bihar State Electricity Board (BSEB) decision to recruit junior engineers (JE) through campus selection.

A bench of Justice S.K. Katriar and Justice Vikas Jain quashed a PIL filed by passout students, challenging the board’s decision to recruit 273 JEs, on the ground that they were denied the opportunity to be part of the selection process.

While holding the procedure adopted by the board as correct, the court asked the board to go for advertisements for recruitment on vacant posts in next six months so that other students get a fair chance.
