Patna, Oct. 27: G.One did not fly out of the screen in the state capital but he surely made the citizens’ heart — sorry H.A.R.T. — beat.
Residents flocked to Cinepolis and other cinemas not only to witness to the phenomena of Bollywood’s most expensive movie till date but also to catch Kareena and Shah Rukh step it up with Chammak Challo in Ra.One. Most of them claimed that their first-ever VFX encounter made Diwali more sparkling and lustrous for them. For a few, however, something was missing, as the 3D prints — unable to keep up with the speed of the super heroes and villains — failed to arrive in the city in time.
Sanjeev Kumar, who had turned up to see the first show at Cinepolis, said: “I never expected such a film from Indian filmmakers.”
His fellow audience member, Roshan Raja said: “We wanted to make our Diwali more enjoyable by watching the film. It has not disappointed us.”
For children Ra.One was mesmerising. Most of them were enchanted with the surreal interaction between the real and the gaming worlds that takes up much of the plot. “Shah Rukh Khan has made my Diwali! I shall come to watch it again when the 3D version releases,” said nine-year-old Rishav.
Those who wanted to see the film in 3D were, however, in for a disappointment. Cinepolis, which had taken advance bookings for the 3D shows, failed to screen them yesterday.
Ashish Shukla, head of marketing, Cinepolis, told The Telegraph: “We were prepared to screen the film but the production house had some problems.”
The multiplex authorities refunded the money and people who had turned up got to see the 2D version. Boring Road resident Vishal Shukla said: “Cinepolis took down our phone numbers, when we booked the tickets. So, they should have called and informed us.”
He, however, added that the film was entertaining. “The superhero concept has really come of age in Bollywood.”
Those who missed the clash between Ra.One and G.One on 3D yesterday can catch it from today, as the prints have finally arrived. Cinepolis has nine shows running round-the-clock. There are also seven shows of the 2D version at the multiplex and four at Mona.
However, if you plan to catch it over the weekend, be prepared to loosen your purse strings. For, the prices of the tickets, too, are soaring like G.One in flight. You would have to shell out Rs 250 for the 3D show and Rs 220 for the 2D one. Even if you are ready to part with your silver, you might have to return home frustrated. Most of the shows are booked for the next couple of days.
