Patna, June 28: Agriculture minister Narendra Singh today said farmers planting 10-20 trees would get an incentive of Rs 14,000 for five years to take care of the plants.

“The package will be given to them under the plant distribution scheme,” he said, while inaugurating a two-day agriculture mechanisation fair at the Bihar Veterinary College.

Addressing the farmers, Singh urged them to plant trees. He said: “Farmers suffer a lot because of lack of rainfall. The groundwater-level is also going down. We are making certain arrangements to conserve rain water.”

Singh also expressed concern over pollution that is causing less rainfall. The minister added that that the mechanisation fair was the first fair in the 2011-12 fiscal.
