Patna, June 9: If the past week was hot, this weekend promises to be hotter for fashion lovers in the city.
The Inter National Institute of Fashion Design (INIFD) is going to organise a fashion show in the city on June 11. To add to the glamour, models from Delhi would participate in the event along with students of the institute.
“INIFD is once again coming up with new designs, new silhouette and new hues in the coming fashion show ‘Twastra — The Divine Art’,” Preeti Sinha, the manager of the institute in Patna said while addressing a news conference in Patna.
She said: “Bihar is now no less than the metros of the country as far as fashion is concerned. The state has been developing in the past few years under the new government. The residents of Bihar are now trying to prove themselves in different fields and one of the most attractive areas of interest for students today is fashion.
She pointed out that every year INIFD organises such ramp shows aimed at giving the students of the institute an insight into the art of fashion and help them get a practical experience in the field.
“The students of INIFD are excited about the show, scheduled to be held on June 11 at Hotel Patliputra Ashoka. The show will start at 6pm and will be based on contemporary designs of modern India,” Preeti said.
She said there would be a total of eight rounds of bold and beautiful ethnic costumes of India.
“Students under the guidance of their teachers Amarjeet Kaur, Vidisha Kant, Rubab Khan, Sunita Goyanka, Rani Keshri and Bimal Kumar (director of the institute) have tried to put their best in their unique creations,” Preeti told reporters.
She pointed out that this year there have been several new attractions, including the use of wooden sheet while creating and shaping a woman’s garment.
“This time we have used wooden sheet to create female garments. We have also used traditional Indian motifs in order to make the outfit attractive as well as unique,” she said.
She added that a total of 50 students would be participating and Anu Anand Construction Private Limited is the sponsor of the fashion show. Entry to the show will be allowed only to the people who have been given the passes.
The restricted entry is a way to control unruly crowd from disturbing the show as well as the participants.
