Shillong, Feb. 7: Giriraj Singh, the Union minister of state for micro, small and medium enterprises, today held former chief minister Nitish Kumar responsible for the political instability in Bihar.

The BJP leader, a former animal and fish resources minister in the Nitish cabinet, although made it clear that his party had nothing to do with the political imbroglio caused by the JDU lawmakers in his home state.

Nitish had accused the BJP of playing 'ugly politics', never witnessed earlier in Bihar.

'The stand of the BJP is not to topple the government. We are not at all involved in destabilising the government but Nitish is solely responsible,' Giriraj told journalists in Shillong.

He was in the Meghalaya capital for a review meeting with the state government officials on the implementation of Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme.

Asked if the BJP would support chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, Giriraj added: 'Among themselves, they (JDU) were trying to destabilise Manjhi. We are not at all involved in it. The stand of the BJP is not to disturb the present set-up.'

While he claimed that the BJP was not into politics of caste and religion, BJP president Amit Shah attacked Nitish and accused him of doing injustice to a Mahadalit (referring to Manjhi).
