Patna, Nov. 26: Criminals from Bihar are apparently shifting their areas of operation to other parts of the country.
This has become evident from the frequent visits by police from states such as Delhi, Maharashtra, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Tamil Nadu to Bihar in search of criminals involved in cases of murder, house robbery, bank dacoity, kidnapping and extortion.
In the past six months, at least 15 police teams from Delhi, Maharashtra, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Tamil Nadu have visited Bihar. On Friday, a Delhi police team visited Madhubani in north Bihar in search of suspected some Lashkar-e-Toiba operatives. The three-member team arrested Ghayur Jamil and Mohammad Azmal for their alleged involvement in the firing near Jama Masjid in Delhi and Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
On October 20 this year, Aman Choudhary, accused of killing a former (retd) commissioner of Himanchal Pradesh, Amba Dutt Dhuntra, was arrested from Katihar by a Himanchal Pradesh police team.
The police recovered about Rs 9 lakh in cash on Choudhary, who worked as a domestic help at the 96-year-old victim’s official residence.
Earlier, Shailendra Mahto, a kingpin of an inter-state gang of bank robbers, was arrested from his native village under Karaiparsurai police station in Nalanda district. Mahto was wanted by the police of six states, including Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Bengal and Bihar.
