The urban development department is about to begin a Rs 670-crore ADB-funded project for water supply, sewerage and solid waste management to all 53 wards under Gaya Municipal Corporation.

Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation (BUIDCo) has been made implementation agency of the plan for which a detailed project report (DPR) has been prepared by Gurgaon-based Water and Power Consultancy Services India Ltd (Wapcos).

According to the DPR, the project cost of water supply is worth Rs 160 crore and the sewerage one would entail a cost of Rs 383 crore.

Urban development and housing department secretary S. Siddharth, who is also the project director of Support Programme for Urban Reforms (SPUR), has written a letter to BUIDCo managing director Anupam Suman on June 15 stating the plan would be implemented under the Asian Development Bank (ADB)-funded projects.

The work of conducting feasibility studies and preparation of DPR for water supply, waste water management and other works in Gaya was entrusted to Wapcos as consultant.
