Patna: The government on Tuesday released Rs 791 crore for those under social security pension cover, Rs 320 crore to set up laboratories in high schools, and Rs 100 crore for the Patna smart city project.
The decisions were part of the 33-point agenda approved at a cabinet meeting chaired by chief minister Nitish Kumar at the state secretariat.
The decision to provide Rs 320 crore to government high schools for laboratories will ensure that each of them gets Rs 10 lakh. A majority of government high schools don't have lab facilities.
The cabinet approved the proposal by the social welfare department to establish a new directorate for divyang (differently-able) persons. The cabinet also gave its nod to construct a Bihar Bhavan in Puri in Odisha and released an initial amount of Rs 64 lakh for it.
In another major decision, the cabinet accorded "state fair" to fairs at Baunsi (Banka), Deo (Aurangabad), Aghori Dham (Nalanda) and Singheshwar Sthan (Madhepura). These fairs are very popular not only in Bihar, but also neighbouring states.
